Once you learn all the notes on the guitar neck and you can move up and down the fretboard with ease performing simple picking exercises and strumming some chords. Learning scales one the guitar will be a lot easier. 

I encourage you to expand on these simple lessons that I wish I learned when I first started playing the guitar as a beginner.

You will learn the first step in how to master the guitar fretboard. As you watch, listen, and play along, and repeat. 

You will memorize the position of the C note on the neck. You will start off by going at a nice easy pace, practicing all the way unless you can pick out the C note anytime anywhere. 

After this you will practice the A note and so on.

Guitar playing is great and playing  the guitar become more enjoyable the more you expand your skills. This will allow you to develop your own fretboard voice.

How to keep progressing on the fretboard.
-Once you learn and master the C note, move onto B or D and repeat the same method, then again move one up or down depending on which note you learned next.
